I’ve always wondered

why that, in grammar, we have to refer to ourselves and another as, “My friend and I”.

I mean, do they think it’s polite, or something, to do that? Because your friend is not going to get a thought-message or something telling them that you were polite and referred to them before yourself in writing. I personally don’t care.

I would be perfectly content if somebody referred to themselves and I as such: ”Me and that derpy chick over there.”
